Effective September 6, 2005, The Bellefonte Town Commission's contract
with Independent Disposal Services (IDS) called for the implementation of a
voluntary recycling collection service with DE Solid Waste Authority
(DSWA). This service is being provided by Bellefonte as part of the town's
trash collection service, paid for by your real estate taxes.
Under terms of this contract for service, recyclables will be picked up on the
same day as regular trash -- Tuesday. This program is available for
residential customers only. DSWA does not allow participation in this
recycling program by commercial properties.
The Recycling Program is voluntary until the Bellefonte Town Commission
adopts an ordinance making it mandatory. Remember: recycling cuts down
on the amount of regular trash, saving tax money, and helping keep the
environment cleaner.
Supplies
To order more recycling supplies, call DSWA at 577-3457 or email them
(be sure to include your name, address, what supplies you need, and that
